The Day Before The Day Before Christmas

One December 23 morning in the mid '60s, a young boy was watching his favourite television show, The Friendly Giant. The Giant was talking to his friends, Jerome the Giraffe and Rusty the Rooster. The Giant remarked: "You know, Jerome and Rusty, this is 'the day before the day before Christmas.' The little boy was so taken with this stunning revelation, that he looked impressed and uttered: "Wowww!" Years later, when the little boy had become 17, he was again glued to the television on December 23. He got to see an NFL playoff game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Oakland Raiders. It was kind of a boring game, with the Steelers taking a 6-0 lead into the final couple of minutes, on a pair of field goals. However, the Raiders suddenly went ahead by 1 point, only to have the Steelers pull out a win with only seconds left, on an amazing pass, deflection, reception and long run for a touchdown play, that has survived in football lore as "the Immaculate Reception." Again, the boy was impressed with some new wonderment of "the day before the day before Christmas." I wonder what could be in store this year... (for a now 60-year-old little boy) PS: [Later...] Wow!!! Something special did happen today! My newest great niece, Gabriele was born early this morning! So happy!
